Appraisal of Tomato Germplasms by SSR Markers

The study screened 9 pairs of highly polymorphic primers from 32 pairs of primers for tomato by SSR and analyzed the genetic polymorphisms of 24 tomato germplasms. It totally identified sixty-four bands with the nine pair of primers,and 3-12 bands or 7. 1 bands were found on each examined site. The genetic distances among the germplasms ranged between 0. 031 and 0. 437 with their average at 0. 198. The 24 germplasms were classified by UPGMA into two groups, virus-resistant and virus-susceptible groups and each of the groups were divided into small-fruit and medium-large fruit types. The classifications showed clear genetic homogenization among the genetic types and no correlativity with the germplasm sources.
