We observed characteristics of cross-section in the middle part of petioles of 8 species of Taraxacum by the way of waxslides under the optical microscope. The result indicated:the shapes of cross-section in the middle part of petioles of 8 species of Taraxacum were different and they may divided into ellipse, oblong and flat ellipse. The types of vascular bundle could be fell into two broad headings, around phloem and close to phloem. The number and size in each kind of vascular bundle was different. The characters of 8 species were different in a large degree. These different micromorphological characters could serve as one of the criteria to identify species of taxonomic Taraxacum.Identify of genetic relationship of these characters in Taraxacum were discussed in the paper to provide an evidence of anatomy in Taraxacum.
