Deviation of Burner Jets in a Tangentially Fired Furnace

This article begins with a discussion of achievements in research and questions raised in connection with the deviation of burner jets in a tangentially fired fur nace. Following observations made on the flow pattern within the furnace, the authors suggest that the flow of the burner jets within the furnace belongs in essence to the category of jet flow in a transverse gas stream. Based on such a flow pattern, an equation of motion is derived for the jet stream before it reaches the furnace wall. The principal factors influencing the deviation of the burner jets are enumerated and experimental varification carried out.
