Design Features and Experimental Study of the Tangentially Fired System with the Twin Circles of the Primary Air

High combustion efficiency, low NO X emission, stable ignition and safe operation are the principal demands to the tangentially fired system. Based on this, the tangentially fired system with the twin circles of the primary air as an improved tangentially fired system was presented. The novel system has been applied in two 300MW boilers, related experimental study also has been carried out. In comparison with the conventional tangentially fired system, the horizontal bias burner and the twin circles of the primary air are two main improvements. With high ash content, high sulfur content and low ash softening temperature coal fired, the results of experiment and operation showed: slagging and high temperature corrosion could be avoided effectively; the superheater and reheater were in safe operation; unburned heat loss was less than 2% at rated load; the boiler could operate at 35%~100% rated load without oil support; the NO X emission was low. The novel tangentially fired system is one of the advanced high combustion efficiency, low NO X emission and cyclic load flexibility. Figs 4, tables 4 and refs 3.
