Studies and Remedies of Flue and Steam Temperature Deviations in Horizontal Flue Tracts of Four Corner Tangentially Fired Boilers.

Abstract The reasons of flue and steam temperature deviations in horizontal flue tracts of four corner tangentially fired boilers are being studied and ways of preventing its occurrence suggested. The paper points out that a way of alleviating this deviation would be the introduction of primary air or part of the secondary air and the burn off air jet in a tangential direction countering the main whirling flow. Based on experimental results, the paper suggests to use XJ,which is the dimensionless ratio of the main tangential and counter tangential angular flow momentum, as;the basic criterion to be used for arranging the counter-tangential firing. Under general conditions, XJ should be in a range between 0. 6 to 1. 20
