.Numerical Simulation of Three Dimensional and Two Phase Flow in a Cyclone Separator.

Abstract Three dimensional and two phase flow in a cyclone separator is simulated in this paper.The control equations are solved in three body fitted coordinates using non staggered SIMPLE algorithm.The velocities and pressure fields are obtained.The results show that the non symmetry of inlet flow into cyclone determines the three dimensional property of the flow.The stagnation and reverse of axial velocity near cyclone center is observed.The analysis to particle trajectories show that the hopper of cyclone has the negative effect on particle collection
