Research on a Novel Single Phase Reactive Power Definition and Measurement Based on Current Decomposition

Reactive power definition for the circuits with non-sinusoidal excitations is a controversial topic for a long time.A novel single phase reactive power definition based on Fryze's current decomposition in time domain is proposed in this paper.Reactive power expressions of various linear and nonlinear loads both in sinusoidal and non-sinusoidal circuits are deducted separately.Results show that the novel definition can locate the harmonic source accurately and therefore is effective for harmonic harness and reactive power compensation in real time.Current decomposition is realized by Matlab at the end of the paper,which forms a good basis for reactive power compensation in real time and reactive power energy measurement.
