STATISTICAL RESEARCH ON THE PETROCHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF GRANITIC ROCKS IN JIANGXI

According to the chemical behavior of oxides and the geochemical properties of cations, three groups of oxides are distinguished, i.e., the acidic (SiO_2, TiO_2), alkaline (K_2O, Na_2O) and basic (Al_2O_3, Fe_2O_3, FeO MnO, MgO, CaO) as indicated by the available petrochemical data from 134 granitic bodies in Jiangxi. Characteristic parameters involved in fundamental statistics were calculated for each group of these oxides with respect to each of these rock masses. The results may provide us with a better understanding of the minerogenetic speciality of different geochemical surroundings: (1) W-, Sn- and Be-bearing rock masses and those containing Nb, Ta and TR fall into the same broad category known as acidic granites, but they differ from each other in geochemical environment. The former were emplaced under relatively acidic conditions, while the latter were emplaced in relatively alkaline environments. Alkaline replacement is more restricted both on scale and in intensity in W-, Sn-, Be-granites than in Nb-, Ta- TR-granites. (2) If K_2O/Na_2O=1 is taken as an index, two geochemical environments can be distinguished, a) KNa is indicative of a potash-environment, characteristic of W, Sn, Be, TR, Pb, Zn and minor Cu. b) NaK indicates a soda-surrounding, typical of Nb, Ta and minor Cu. (3) Ore-baren granites are of moderate acidity. They are normal granites with varying amounts of alkalii and their K_2O/Na_2O ratios may be greater or smaller than unity.
