GEOCHEMICAL STUDIES OF Au-BEARING FORMATION IN JIAODONG PENINSULA, SHANDONG PROVINCE

Wang Henian Chen Jun Wang Yao(Department of Geology, Nanjing University)Ding Kang(Institute of Geochemistry, Academia Sinica)
Geochemical characteristics of the Upper Archean-Lower Proterozoic Jiaodong Group-the host rocks of the famous Jiaodong gold deposit are presented in this paper. It is shown that the Jiaodong Group is an important Au-bearing formation containing 19.5 ppb Au on average, about 5 times as much as its abundance in the crust. It is also found that the distri-bution of gold in the strata is uneven and that plagio-hornblendite is the prospective Au-bearing rock. In the processes of regional metamorphism, migmatization and fault-remelting gold in the source bed was remobilized and concentrated to form various types of gold de-posits in this area.
