A STUDY ON THE ISOTOPIC COMPOSITION OF Pb AND S IN THE LANPING Pb-Zn DEPOSIT, YUNNAN PROVINCE

Pb and S isotope data show that Pb in the Lanping Pb-Zn deposit was derived mainly from the mantle, although it was contaminated by crustal lead. It belongs to mixed lead composed mainly of normal lead. Sulfur was derived mainly from bacterial reduction of sulphates in sedimentary basins. The formation of the mineral deposit is ascribed to deep-seated brines, and may have involved two mineralization stages, i.e., the early stage at which light sulfur with a higher μ value is relatively enriched and the late stage at which light sulfur with a lower μ value is relatively depleted in Pb-Zn mineralization.
