Source area determination and gas pool formation model of the Ya13-1 Gasfield from the Qiongdongnan Basin

There are some key problems which have been not well solved for th e formation model of the Ya13-1 Gasfield from the Qiongdongnan Basin. In this pap er, the methods of hydrocarbon generation and carbon isotopic fraction kinetics of source rocks as well as fluid inclusion techniques of reservoirs were applied to investigate the effective source area, the timing of the gas pool formation, and gas migration and accumulation efficiency. The results show that the Ya13-1 Gasfield formed quite late, with a main stage of gas pool formation after 2 Ma , and the effective gas source rocks are coal measure mudstone and coal in the Y acheng Formation located at the slope area of the Yanan Depression, with a curre nt burial depth of 4 000~5 500 m, and that the gases from the gasfield are char acterised by cumulated gases. On the basis of these, a model showing gas generat ion, migration and accumulation for the Ya13-1 Gasfield is suggested. It is bel ieved that the methods and the model suggested in this paper have an important g uidance to further research and exploration of the natural gases from the Yingge hai-Qiongdongnan Basin.
