Microstructure characteristics of NE trend ductile shear zones of southwestern Hainan:Constraints from ~(40)Ar-~(39)Ar geochronology

All the structural and microstructural observations suggest a tectonic movement of expression(top to SE)with NE trend sinistral strike-slip for NE trend Gezhen and Chongzuling ductile shear zones in southwestern Hainan Island.According to the quartz c-axis preferred orientations of eight mylonitic rock samples in the two shear zones and the feldspar-quartz micro-deformation structure in these samples,it is presumed that the deformational temperature is about from 450 ℃to 300 ℃.Mylonitic rock samples 04HN04 and 04HN24 locate in Gezhen and Chongzuling ductile shear zones,respectively.Biotite separated from sample 04HN04 and muscovite from sample 04HN24,yield a well-defined 40Ar-39Ar plateau age of(227.4±0.2)Ma for about 94%released 39Ar and(229.6±0.3)Ma for about 96%released 39Ar,respectively.These ages are interpreted to date the cooling through 40Ar-39Ar closure temperatures following synkinematic growth of muscovite as a consequence of mylonitic overprinting and to date the deformation of the two shear zones.Gezhen and Chongzuling shear zones are similar to the main shear zones in interior south China block(such as Xuefengshan region)in kinematics and deformation epoch during late Indosinian.It can offer new information of the early Mesozoic structural development of southwestern Hainan Island and the Indosinian structure development of southern China and Indochina block.
