ON THE MATHEMATICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF ORE BODIES AND THE CLASSIFICATION OF THEIR VARIATIONS——TAKE A SKARN-MOLYBDENUM DEPOSIT FOR A TYPICAL CASE

As one of the basic theories for mathematical geology,the theoretical summarization about the mathematical characteristics of geological bodies has opened up a new field for the geological study. As an example, this paper has discussed a possible approach to investigate various mathematical characteristics of ore bodies. The amplitude, velocity, range and natures of variation for different features have been investigated, the typical indicators of absolute, relative and complex measurements for various attributes have been suggested and its geological genetic significance and their exploration effects have been also studies.By means of the study of the statistical characteristics, the sequences of variation for different features, different directions and different places of ore bodies and the statistical distribution model forgrade and thickness of ore bodies have been established. Results of factor analysis with the trace elements of ore samples indicate therelationship of elements in the sense of paragenetic combinaton, which has provided important information for mineralization stage division. With the help of the theory of entropy function have been calculated combinational characteristic values of single and multiple factors,which is considered as an important means of the study of structural characteristics of ore bodies.Using these mathematical characteristics as quantitative criteria for classification of variation of ore bodies, the author has proposed two possible ways , One of them is that, based on geological analysis, assign a subjective weight to every characteristic indicator, then summarize these mathematical characteristics into a total scores of variation of ore bodies, and according these total scores do a reasonable classification. The other way consist in using characteristic analysis for selecting the significant indicators and assigning an objective weight to every characteristic.
