ONE SEISMIC-OCCURRING MODEL OF INTRAPLATED EARTHQUAKE

A seismic-occurring model of the interaction between solid rocks and coherent fluids is established. A seismic magnitude relation is deduced as follows : M = 2/3lgΔσ+ lgR2- 3. 5. According to this relation, the maximum intraplated seismic magnitude proved to be Magnitude 9(on the Richter scale). This model is used to carefully analyse the case of Tangshan Earthquake, giving a better interpretation of its occurrence, thus making it possible to predict a likely continental earthquake and its magnitude.
