Ruan Baiyao (Department of Applied Geophysics and Computer, Guilin Institute of Technology, Guilin541004) Xu Shizhe (Department of Geology and Geophysics, Ocean University of Qingdao, Qingdao266003)  
According to the study of Xu Shizhe et al (1995), a variational equation and finite element method (FEM) is presented for modeling resistivity sounding on two dimension (2_D) geoelectric model with line variation of conductivity within each block. Solutions of the model show that the method has great calculation precision.
