Application of Support Vector Machine to Short-term Climate Prediction during the Flood Season of Sanming Prefecture

In this paper the data from 31 numerical forecasting products in March and April during 1951—2007,including Blocking High Area Index.Key Zone SST Index,and Circulation Characteristic Value, are chosen to be samples for model building.And support vector machine(SVM) is applied to develop a short-term climate forecasting method of rain fall flood seasons for the southeastern area(a representative station:Yongan) and for the northwestern area(a representative station:Taining) of Sanming Prefecture.The result shows that the short-term climate prediction system based on the approach of the SVM has a high accuracy and thus has application value.
