APPLICATION OF NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE LOGGING IN NATURAL GAS DETECTION

NING Cong qian TAN Ting dong LI Ning (Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development, Beijing 100083,China)
Nuclear magnetic resonance logging not only can measure petrophysical parameters such as porosity and permeability, which provide scientific basis for reservoir evaluation, but also can detect natural gas signals and give gas saturation of the reservoir with proper detection techniques and data processing methods. Thus NMR logging becomes an important method of gas detection. This paper discusses the gas detection principles and data processing methods of NMR logging, and gives some examples.
