How to predict and localize potential concealed mineral resources in depths at an aged mining district ——working model and case study

Searching for potential concealed mineral resources of economic interest in and around an aged mining district requires explorers to be prepared with the following capacities and power: 1) renewed ideas of generalizing in-situ mineralization styles, ore-controlling structures and local geology; 2) cost-effective and powerful exploration devices and equipment of deep penetration; 3) efficient working procedures. The renewed ideas of explorer, not as a routineer, stem from absorption of relevant knowledge and experience to scrutinize in-situ mineralization and geological structures in order to pick out potentially favorable mineralized targets in the working district. Powerful geophysical methods are extremely of importance in locating the blind or concealed orebodies under burden, by producing high-resolution images of subsurface geological structures and mineralization in the form of geophysical anomalies. Those geophysical images in combination with rational interpretation modeling can, not only test and verify previous geologically-suggested features of mineralization, but also provide objective prediction information regarding ore localization. Furthermore, the cost-effective and well-organized geophysical exploration programs can significantly reduce the inherent risks and amounts of geological drillings. Based on our experience of both success and failing concerning mineral exploration, and the geophysical surveying methods we have, an effective and useful working procedure for blind ore exploration has become reality.
