Progress in porosity model for fractured and vuggy reservoirs

Currently,the analysis of vuggy and fractured reservoirs has been an area of significant interest.Recent researches on porosity models are better developed.Several researchers have studied the characterization of these reservoirs using dual porosity and triple porosity models and have looked for means of estimating values of the porosity exponent m for use in calculations of water saturation.Reservoirs can be modeled as a parallel or serial resistance network.The results indicated that dual porosity model applies to reservoirs made out of matrix and non-connected vugs or reservoirs made out of matrix and natural fractures/connected vugs,whereas triple porosity model holds for petrophysical analysis of reservoirs of all combinations of matrix,fracture and non-connected vug porosities.It is of guiding significance for the evaluation of igneous,metamorphic and carbonate reservoirs.
