Determination of gravity vertical gradient and its application potential

Recent years,with the survey precision rising and indirect determining methods progressing,gravity vertical gradient is widely used in geoscience.The direct gravity gradient measurement method by means of LCR gravity meter and its operating notice are presented in this paper.The paper expounds the meaning and effect of gravity gradient to geoscience,it mainly includes:(1) precisely determining geoid and othormetric height;(2) nicely detecting material distribution and interface fluctuation;(3) resolving inversion problem in potential field sources,and interpreting dynamical mechanism of gravity gradient variation by combining gravity gradient measurement and deformation data.Its application potential in geoscience is proposed in the paper.
