Study of the method to extract oil-water interface automatically from MDT data

Based on the analyses of MDT data and the shape of formation pressure profile curves,an innovative method is proposed to gain continued formation pressure profile curves by using cubic spline function and the formation pressure profile curves can be considered as parabolic curves.In these curves,the apexes are one to one correspondence with the reservoir oil-water interfaces.Based on the peak value concept,the depth of oil-water interfaces can be extracted from these formation pressure profile curves,and correspondent program is compiled to extract the oil-water interface automatically.The possible extra error can be decreased in on-site processing using this program,the handling time of operating personnel can be saved,and the work capacity can be diminished.The reliability of this innovative method,the factuality and validity of the result of interpretation can be approved by practical applications.
