Revision method of earthquake magnitude

In general,there is large error of magnitude parameters evaluated from disaster information for the historical earthquakes.Even for the earthquakes recorded by instruments,the magnitude values measured by different seismic networks are still quite different for some large events. Based on the brittle failure theory of multiple locked patches in a seismogenic fault system,we present a revision method of earthquake magnitude and then revise the magnitude parameters of global earthquake catalog,which could be referenced by the department concerned. In addition, we also discuss a hot issue whether the earth has entered into the seismic active period using the revised parameters.
