THREE-STEP MODEL OF THE QINGHAI-XIZANG PLATEAU UPLIFT

The basic features of the lithosphere structure and movements of the TibetPlateau after the collision between India and Eurasia Plates are summarized in thispaper. They are the crust thickening, crust shortening and the horizontal material flowin the crust. The plateau's uplift is a multi-phase and multi-style process. There aredifferent dominant uplift mechanisms for different geological blocks composed theTibet Plateau. A three stage uplift model of the Tibet Plateau, Breakoff uplift-Compression uplift-Convective uplift Model (BCCM), which suggested by Fu et al., isdiscussed and investigated with a numerical model resultS. It is to be supposed thatthe Tibet Plateau is not only the consequence of the collision between india andEurasia Plates, but also is the consequence of the coupling and itheraction betweenthe lithosphere and its underiaying mantle in this region.
