2D Kirchhoff migration for receiver function

WU Qing-Ju, LI Yong-Hua, ZHANG Rui-Qing, ZHANG Nai-LingInstitute of Geophysics, China Earthquake Administration, Beijing 100081,China  
We extend seismic reflection Kirchhoff migration to receiver function study, to adapt to lateral velocity variation and improve the precision and resolution of receiver function migration. The model experiment shows that Kirchhoff migration can implement effective image of converted phases, remove the fictious image, in contrast to ray-based horizontal common-converted-point stacking method. We note that imaging dipping or curving interface is controlled by teleseismic azimuth, and receiver functions from different direction should be jointed to better resolve those complicated structures.
