Influence factor analysis of dual laterolog response based on the circumferential magnetic field FEM

Current line distribution is an auxiliary means to evaluate the performance of dual laterolog tools. Generally the voltage potential method is applied and the current line is obtained by differentiating the voltage potential, which may introduce extra error. To solve this problem,a finite element numerical simulation method based on circumferential magnetic field intensity is proposed in this paper. The correctness of the new method is verified by comparing the apparent resistivity curves and current line distribution resulted from the two methods. Furthermore, the circumferential magnetic field intensity method is superior to the voltage potential method in the aspect of current line distribution. The apparent resistivity and the current distribution are calculated under the condition of high invasion formation and low invasion formation. The influence of an invaded zone on the response of dual laterolog is analyzed.
