Geophysical Researches on the Basement Properties of the Junggar Basin

ZHANG Jisheng HONG Dawei WANG TaoInstitute of Geology, CAGS, Beijing, 100037
Based on a detailed analysis of geophysical data available, the authors consider that the argument of Precambrian crystal basement existent below the Junggar basin can hold water. The influence of the residual magnetization upon the aeromagnetic anomalies was identified. Aeromagnetic anomalies in Junggar area were divided into regional anomalies and residual anomalies. On such a basis, the shape and depth of the magnetic body below the Junggar basin were modeled by using the magnetization intensity of Archeozoic rocks from North China. It is shown that Archeozoic basement lies below the middle-lower crust in the Junggar basin.
