A DIAGNOSTIC ANALYSIS OF THE FORMATION AND VARIATION OF THE LOW-LEVEL JET DURING HEAVY-RAIN PROCESSES

In this paper the formation and variation of the low-level jet during heavy-rain processes are studied by analysing the factors causing local change of wind speed and by investigating the conditions for the occurrence of a pair of large positive and negative centers of vorticity tendency according to the characteristics of pressure, temperature and velocity feilds and the diabatic heating. The mechanism is clearly shown. And how to apply the theoretical results to routine practice is described and demonstrated.
