COMPARISON AMONG SEVERAL METHODS FOR LIDAR PROBING OF ATMOSPHERIC EXTINCTION COEFFICIENT

In this paper, a few methods from which atmospheric extinction coefficient can be obtained are discussed based on synthetic observation data in Xianghe county, Hebei province. It is found from computational results that, the method considering lidar measured extinction-to-backscatter ratio in horizontal direction at ground k0 as backscatter ratio in whole track will result in much more error when stable situation occurs in the lower troposphere, and both of computational method that combined with solar radiometer data and that from scan-angle lidar measurement under assumption that the effective vertical transmission is homogeneous for all slant paths through the layer, give better results.
