Slide Mode and Optimum Controller Design for the Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor

The permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) position control system is sensitive to various disturbances such as the parameter perturbations, load disturbances and so on. A new high-performance robust scheme of integrating slide-mode variable structure control with optimal control is proposed to overcome this trouble. Firstly, feedback gain and demand control law of system is decided by linear quadratic optimum control theory. Secondly, the optimum control law is improved through slide mode variable-structure control theory, thus a slide mode and optimum controller is designed to guarantee the robustness of the servo system. Simulation results show that the slide mode and optimum controller is superior to the conventional PI controller in dynamic stability performance, and robustness to external disturbance.
