POISSON PROCESS-BASED TRAFFIC EXCITATION MODEL FOR HIGHWAY BRIDGES

This paper presents a traffic excitation model based on Poisson Process,and proposes a method to construct this model's spectrum density matrix.By converting the moving forces into equivalent nodal excitation by the dynamic nodal loading approach,the Campbell's theorem is appied for the filtered Poisson Process.The result of numerical analysis shows that the proposed model can represent the primary nature of the traffic excitation as long as the normal speed of the vehicles on a bridge.In output-only system,identifying the direct application of the white noise excitation model can lead to misleading results.
