CHU Shao-feng,SHI Yang-hang (College of Civil Engineering,Huaqiao University,Quanzhou 362021,China)  
High performance concrete(HPC) has special characters comparing with the ordinary concrete.It has been developed quickly since it was first presented.In this article,the author introduces some different ideas about the concept of HPC which were put forward by domestic and oversea scholars,brings forward the author's understanding about HPC,analyses the elements that influence the durability,mechanical property and volume stability of HPC and introduces the application of HPC all over the world,and predicts the development of HPC.
