This paper uses the finite element program ABAQUS to analyze the linear elastic distortional buckling of lipped channel column with two reinforcement measures by adding diaphragms and connecting rods.The results show that lipped channel column with additional diaphragms can enhance more buckling load than that with additional connecting rods.After comparision,we found that adding the rectangular diaphragms to the lipped channel at a distance of a quarter-wave length is the most economical and effective way to strengthen the lipped channel.
