Effects of energy controllable steep pulse on human umbilical vein endothelial cells in vitro

Objective To investigate the effects of energy controllable steep pulse on the biological properties of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) in vitro. Methods After action of steep pulses of 10 V and 80 V, the acute and delayed effects on human umbilical vein endothelial cells were investigated by measuring the cell growth curves and by MTT assay, and cell cycle changes were detected by flow cytometry (FCM). Results MTT assay demonstrated the effects of steep pulses on HUVECs were in a dose-dependent manner. The cell growth curve showed that the higher dose mainly resulted in acute effects, but there were no changes in cell cycle. Conclusion It shows that energy controllable steep pulse can change the feature of human umbilical vein endothelial cells and induce the apoptosis of HUVEC.
