Mental health and coping styles on women before receiving in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer

Objective To explore the relationship of mental health and coping styles in women who will accept in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer(IVF-ET).Methods A total of 99 women who will accept IVF-ET were tested with Symptom Check List-90(SCL-90) and Coping Style Scale.Another 98 reproductive women served as normal control.Results IVF-ET women had higher scores on somatization,obsessive-compulsive,phobic anxiety,anxiety,psychoticism than healthy control.Healthy women adopted much more problem solving and help seeking to solve problem,but IVF-ET women adopted much more fantasy.Problem solving was significantly positive correlated with SCL-90 total score.Self-blame,fantasy and avoidance were significantly negative correlated with SCL-90 total score.Conclusion There are relationship between mental health and coping styles in women who will accept IVF-ET.
