THE DRIVING FORCE ANALYSES OF THE BLOWN-SAND ACTIVITY IN NORTHERN CHINA

The increase of blown-sand activities in northern China becomes a natural disaster. The cause of rapid expansion of blown-sand disaster has been comprehensively analyzed. It seems that the main reason of the expansion is land cover changes caused by man-made variation of land use in the flame of global climatic changes. According to the trend of blown-sand activities, more attention should be paid to the issues as follows: (1) Whether the abnormality of the climatic events (such as EI Nino) results in the increasing of windy days in northern China and will further increase such Phenomena in the future? (2) Is it possible to find some anthropogenic methods in order to decrease severe and extremely severe dust storms? (3) Due to global warming,variations of precipitation in late winter and early spring will Probably change the frequency, intensity and spatial distribution of blown-sand activities. (4) The effect of increasing contradiction of water uses in natural ecosystem and in human economical and daily lives to the further evolution of blown-sand activities. Intensive studies of these issues are absolutely necessary in order to diminish the blown-sand disaster.
