Research on Underwater Plasma Sound Source and Its Focused Sound Field Distribution Characteristics

The operating and focusing principle of the underwater plasma sound source are analyzed, and low-power test devices are developed. The measurement of the focused sound field is conducted. The relationship between the peak pressure of the sound pulse and the place of the sound filed is studied from the directions of both the sound axis and the focused plane, and the distributing characteristic of the focusing sound field is concluded. The research result preliminarily validates the superiority of the underwater plasma sound source, and lays a good foundation for the further improvement of the sound source and the application to ultra-long-range underwater communications system over 100 km.
