Evaluation of rabbit liver functional reserve following partial hepate-ctomy by glucagon sustain test

GUAN Wen-Xian, GAO Zhi-Qing and FU You-Chi Department of Hepatobiary Surgery ,Xijing Hospital
Partial hepatectomy is a major form of treatment in hepatic surgery and correct evaluation of liver functional reserve(LFR)before operation is very important and yet difficult. The present study measured rabbit LFR after various ranges of hepatectomy using glucagon sustain test(GST).It was found that the an- swering ratio of cAMP in plasma following loading with glucagon is a relatively accurate index for LFR. The test could immediately detect when LFR loss was approximately 25%. The findings demonstrated that this method is more accurate sensitive and rapid than routine liver functional tests and is of clinical implication.
