Effects of Matrine on the differentiation of SMMC 7721 cell lines

Aim: To study the effect of matrine (Ma) on differentiation of SMMC 7721 cell lines. Methods: By using the method of cell culture,we studied Ma induced differentiation of SMMC 7721 cell lines through cell proliferation, ultrastructure, function and metabolism in vitro . Results:The proliferation of treated cells was inhibited;the ultrastructure tended to normality;alphafetoprotein (AFP) was lower than that of control cells;γ glutamg transperpidase (γ GT) activity gradually decreased; and tyrosine α ketog hitarate (TAT) activity was higher than that of control cells.On the 6th day,the cell DNA content was decreased,and the content of cell was increased in S phase. Conclusion:Ma can block the cell at S phase, induce the cell differentiation tending to normal in vitro .
