New Image Fusion Method based-on Improved Local Gradient Processing of Wavelet Coefficient

A multi-sensor image fusion algorithm using biorthogonal wavelet transform is presented.In allusion to the high-fre- quency coefficients of the wavelet after decomposition,a fusion rule based-on the selection of local gradient and weighted average is proposed.This preserves both the details of source image information and ensures the consistency of fusion results.The algo- rithm is used to fuse multi-focus images and the quantitative assessment is also presented using the evaluation parameter of cross entropy and so on.The results show that this algorithm can preserve richer details from the primitive image information,and has stronger ability of restraining noise and better visual effect.
