A NEW SPECIES OF THE GENUS CHOROTERPES FROM NANJING (EPHEMEROPTERA: LEPTOPHLEBIIDAE)

Choroterpes (Euthraulus) nanjingensis, sp. nov. Male imago (ill alcohol): Length of body and fore wing both 4.5--5.5 mm,general colour deep brown. Turbinate eyes orange red, lower eyes black; ocelli pale,margined with blaek. Distal base of costal projection of hind wings angular, costalarea with 4 cross veins, subcostal area with 3 cross veins. Forceps of male genitalia 3 segnented, 2nd and 3rd segments short and not entirely divided, base of forcepsbroad, penis-lobes short with narrow eleft between. (figs. 1--7, 12--14) Female imago (in alcohol): Length of body and fore wing both 5.5--6mm, generalcolour deeper than the male. Abdominal markings indistinct, 9th sternum shallowlycleft apically, other characters similar to the male. (figs. 8--11, 15) This new species is similar to C. (E.) trifurcata Ueno, C. (E.) marginatus Ulmerand C. (E.) curatus Kimmins. The comparison of their gunitalia is shown in the follow-ing table: Holotype ? imngo, collected from Zhong Shan Ling, Nanjing, on June 8, 1978.Allotype ? and Paratypes 6?, 47? from the same locality on may to November.All types deposited in the Department of Biology, Nanjing Teacher's College, Nan-jing, China.
