A new linyphiid genus Lotusiphantes is described. It include one new species L. nanyuensis. All types of the new species are deposited in the Faculty of Life Sciences Hunan Normal University. When examing specimen of linyphiid spiders from Hunan Province, China, we encoun tered a species which can′t be placed in genera known. A new genus, Lotusipha ntes, is created for the species. All type specimens are deposited in Faculty of Life Sciences, Hunan Normal University. Abstract A new linyphiid genus Lotusiphantes is described. All type specimens are deposited in Faculty of Life Sciences, Hunan Normal University.Lotusiphantes gen. nov. Type species:Lotusiphantes nanyuensis sp.nov. Etymology. After lotus, refering to Hunan Province, the location of type species , which is well known as the realm of lotus in China, and the Greek “hyphant es” weaver. Diagnosis. The male is diagnosed by palpal organ, especially by paracymbium and embolic division (Figs. 4, 6 and 8). The female is diagnosed by the epigynum (Fi gs.9 11), especially by two large and deep atria on the dorsal side of the sc ape. Description.Medium sized spiders. Body length 2.55 3.40?mm. Carapace unmodifie d in both sexes, yellow brown, with darker margin and a darker brown middle log n itudinal stripe, DAMEDPME. Chelicerae medium sized, yellow brown, with well d ev eloped stridulating files on its lateral surface (Fig. 3). Tibial dorsal spines 2 2 2 2, TmⅠ 0.20 0.22, without TmⅣ. Abdomen pale brown with distinct bl ack dorsal pattern containing some silvery guanine spots(Fig. 1). Paracymbium large, stout and trilobated distally, with a group of 8 10 long and stout bristles and several hairs on basal arm (Fig. 6). Terminal apophysis (ta) well developed, with a comparatively broad terminal membrane (tm) at its dista l end. Embolus relatively broad, tooth like in distal end, with a wide embolus pr o per (ep). Lamella (l) large, but comparatively simple, sail like. Median membra ne (mm) broad and flat. Radix (r) very large and sole like. The epigynum projects distinctly from ventral surface of female abdomen(Fig. 10) , with ventral plate extended into a scape (s) and dorsal plate extended into a median septum (ms), without a socket on end of the scape. Dorsal plate is compar ative small. The scape has two thin sclerotied walls (sw) on both its lateral si des. Among the median septum and two lateral walls there are two atria, within w hich genital openings are located. Included species. Lotusiphantes nanyuensis sp. nov. Distribution. China. Taxonomic position. This genus lies in the Millidge′s Drapesticanae (Millidge, 1984), but is different from all other genera known of this subfamily by having genital openings inside atria not on the scape. It seems probable that this gen us is a close relative of the genera Asthenargus, Drapetisca and Saaristoa .Lotusiphantes nanyuensis sp. nov. (Figs. 1 11) Male. Body length 2.55 2.80?mm. Carapace 1.25 1.30?mm long, 1.10 1.15?mm w ide. A ME smallest (0.05?mm), ALE, PME and PLE same in size (0.08?mm), DAME(0.03?mm) DPME(0.05?mm). Chelicerae with two anterior margin teeth and one posterior mar gin tooth(Fig. 2). Legs yellow brown, with pale black ring on tibia. Leg formul a:Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅳ,Ⅲ, TmⅠ 0.12 0.22, TmⅣ absent. Leg Ⅰ 6.12?mm long (1.66+1.85+1 .71+0. 9), leg Ⅱ 5.32?mm long (1.37+1.66+1.46+0.83), leg Ⅲ 4.24?mm long (1.12+1. 27 +1.17+0.68), leg Ⅳ 5.26?mm long (1.41+1.56+1.46+0.83). Abdomen pale brown wi th distinct black dorsal pattern containing some silvery guanine spots (Fig. 1). P alpal (Figs. 4 and 5) compare description of the the genus. Suprategular apophys i s (sa) broad and heavy sclerotied, with hook shaped tip and a rectang
