YIN Wen Ying XIE Rong-Dong YANG Yi Ming YUE Qiao Yun LUAN Yun Xia( Institute of Plant Physiology & Ecology, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai 200032, E mail: sieyin@online.sh.cn )
The senior author, YIN Wen\|Ying suggested a new consideration on the higher taxa systematic of the Class Protura at the 20th International Congress of Entomology at Firenze, Italy in 1996. Only a brief abstract of this suggestion was published in the Proceedings of the Congress. The present paper deals mainly with the comparison of the important characters among the different groups of the Class Protura, and a cladistic analyses based on these characters. All the results support the new suggestion for regrouping the Protura into 3 orders: Acerentomata, Sinentomata and Eosentomata; subdivided into 10 families reflecting phylogenetic relationships in the Class Protura, and also improving the previous classical taxonomic system.
