IMPROVE DAMPING CHARACTERISTIC BY USE OF SVC

The poor damping characteristic during transient process is the main character of long distance highpower transmission system. In this paper, it is theoreticallyexpounded and proved that the damping characteristic ofpower system can be improved by use of SVC, and that using frequency as the control signal the damping effect couldbe the best. The effect of improving system damping characteristic by use of SVC is tested and verified in the simulation of a real long distance 500kV transmission system.
