Analysis on Measured and Calculated Results of the Switching Surge in 750kV Transmission Pilot Project

Refering to measured results,on the basis of electromagnetic transient analysis theory and by means of digital simulation the mechanism of the switching surge with short duration,high frequency and high amplitude during no-load switching of 750 kV transformer is verified.The simulation reproducts high switching surge during single phase opening-closing process of 750kV transmission line.The measured and simulated results of switching surge in 750kV transmission line are compared and it is validated that the reason causing the surge lies in failure preinsertion of the circuit breaker's closing resistor.For this reason,it is suggested that the possible hidden troubles in circuit breakers should be eliminated in time to ensure the secure operation of power grid.
