Application of Independent Component Analysis in Monitoring and Analysis of Power Quality

LUO Wei-hua,SUN Yun-lian(School of Electric Engineering,Wuhan University,Wuhan 430072,Hubei Province,China)  
Present electric energy monitoring devices and power quality monitoring and analysis methods are presented.The shortcomings of fast Fourier transform(FFT),short-time Fourier transform(STFT),Wigner spectrum analysis and wavelet transform are analyzed.Here,application of independent component analysis(ICA)in monitoring and analysis of power quality is proposed.By means of two experiments the conditions of sag,swells,under voltages,voltage fluctuations and transient surges are simulated,the disturbance of power quality under these conditions are carried out and the voltage of system under strong noise and interference is monitored and analyzed based on the principle of ICA.The correctness and validity which ICA is applied in monitoring and analysis of power quality are verified by the simulation tests.
