Modeling and Control of Fuel Cells in Distributed Generation System

An appropriate dynamic fuel cell(FC)model plays an important part in the study on the distributed generation(DG)technology.The dynamic model of nonlinear proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC)and that of solid oxide fuel cell(SOFC)are proposed,in which the impact of fuel utilization rate and the time-varying pressure of various reactants are considered.On the basis of these models, according to the efficiency of applied cells and analysis on generation economy,the obtained conclusion is that it is better to control fuel utilization rate within the range from 0.7 to 0.9. In addition,the control strategy of grid-connected FCs is expounded,and in power flow calculation of power grid containing FC generation system the bus where the FC generation sytem is connected with power grid should be regarded as PV node.
