GPS-BASED SYNCHRONIZED SAMPLING AND ITS APPLICATION IN PROTECTION AND CONTROL

Navstar global positioning system(GPS)is now the largest and the most precise timebroadcasting system on the world. By utilizing GPStime,the synchronized sampling over whole powersystem can be realized.This new technique will significantly promote the development of protection, moni-toring and controlling techniques of power system. With brief introduction to GPS,this paper discusseshow to achieve the synchronized sampling and practicalapplications of this technique in protection and con-trol.
