A MODEL FOR GENERATION EXPANSION PLANNING OF POWER SYSTEM BASED ON GENETIC ALGORITHM

A model for the generation expansion planning of power systems based on genetic algorithms (GEP GA) is presented in this paper. A decimal coding method of dynamic mould has successfully been used to solve the chromosome coding problem, and the variety of the GEP's constraints can be considered feasibly in GEP GA. The result of computation examples shows clearly that the global optimal solution can reliably be sought out in GEP GA, and at the same time some suboptimal solutions also can be provided. This model is especially feasible for speedily solving the problems of large scale, long term generation expansion planning of power systems.
