Metallogenic Structural Plane of Lithology and Lithofacies in Sandstone-type Copper Deposits in the Chuxiong Basin

The sandstone-type copper deposits in the Chuxiong red-bed basin,which belong to sedimentary-reformation type deposits,are combined control by three kinds of metallogenic structural planes;lithology/lithofacies interface,tectonic interface and physical-chemical interface(Eh-pH interface).The structural place where coexist these metallogenic structural planes is also the rich ore bearing zone.The metallogenic structural plane of lithology and lithofacies discussed in this article directly controlled the distribution and occurrence of stratiform orebodies.The ore-bodies are mainly distributed in the point bar micro-facies of mature river channel subfacies and the crevasse-splay microfacies of flood plain,or interfacies of diffefent subfacies(micro-facies).In addition,stratiform orebodies are also controlled by specific stratal and lithological combination.It consists of three parts;the sandy conglomerate layers or disconformity surfaces at the bottom(permeable layer),copper ore layers hosted in a set of light-grey medium-sized sandstone at the middle,purple mudstone layers at the top(impermeable layer).This combination can play a good role as geochemical barrier to trap the ore-forming fluid.Therefore,the main criteria for ore prospecting can be further put forward:lithology and lithofacies combination,metallogenic structures of folds and fractures,interactive belt of grey and purple color gradation sandstone and the zonation of metallic mineral assemblage.
