Echo Detection Theory of Airbore LIDAR System and Its Precision of Determining Elevation

Based on the principle and model of determining elevation by echo detection method, the error sources of elevation are analyzed and the LIDAR ranging precision,DGPS precision, IMU precision and echo detection precision is recognized as the main influent factors.By analyzing the test data obtained under the flight height of 1 000 meters, some conclusions are drwan:1)the precision of single laser point can reach 15 cm, while the best precision can be 5 cm after some corrections is made;2)the DEM precision generated in the area where the earth's surface is covered with luxuriant vegetation can reach 0.20 m to 1m.
